King Abdul Aziz Heritage Palace Masterplan & Design

After the death of King Abdulaziz, the Royal Palace and its buildings were used by a number of governmental and non- governmental bodies during various stages of its history. After this period the site was vacated and left neglected, which led to the collapse of some parts. Efforts by Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, to restore the site will emphasize the palace as a witness to the history of Saudi Arabia and the architectural heritage of Makkah.

The study aims at identifying the Palace site, it’s characteristics, natural environment, cultural heritage, current situation and stage of preservation.

The study describes the site, buildings, their distinctive architectural design, buildings` details, building materials and methods. The study concludes by identifying future plans regarding the palace, its buildings and its annexes.
